The port of Sámos is artificial and located at the northeast shores of the head of bay of Vathý. The city of Sámos is the capital city of the island and the main port of the island., The port consists of the commercial port of Malagári (located at the northwest shores) and the passenger port (located to the northeast of the bay of Vathý).
The commercial port has been constructed in a distance of 0.2 miles to the south of cape Tavérna. It consists of a curved mole, which begins from a distance of 220 m to the south of cape Tavérna (Malagári). The mole extends for 38 m to the east and then turns for 51 m to the southeast. Starting from the root of the mole, the quayed shore extends to the southeast for 528 m.A quay, sized 200 X 61 m, is formed at the middle of the shore and the nearby depths from 7,5 to 8 m. This quay is also the main one of the commercial port. South of the quay and at a distance about 40 and 140 meters respectively there are two rumps. There are bollards along the quay. Commercial l ships moor at the main quay. The passenger port is protected from the northwest by a curved mole. The mole begins from cape Katsoúni and extends to the southwest for 100 m and then turns to the south for 160 m. The Harbor Master Office and the Customs Office are located at the base of the mole whereas the passengers’ waiting room, the Immigration office and the Port Revenue Office are located at the inner side of the mole. Starting from the root of the mole, the port’s quayed shores, which are approximately 500 m long, extend to the southeast with nearby depths between 1.9 and 2.5 m. A fishing shelter has been built at the end of the quayed southeast shores.

For the first time in a map of Samos the island’s entire coastline is mapped.
The beach of Mykali is a 3-kilometers-long beach, with big pebbles is situated at a distance of some 7 kilometers southern to the capital town of Samos. Found at the southeastern coast of the island, the beach is well protected from the winds; the sea is very clean but not very shallow.
